The Healing Journey!
We planned to Drive from Colorado to California.
This trip is exciting as I have not been to CA since 2008. My last trip there was to pick up my children from their biological father who stated if I "wanted them back, you have to come get them."
This trip caused me a panic attack, which I have not experienced before. My husband was kind and talked me through it till I was able to breathe again. This trip reminded me of how I had to literally drop everything and drive in a panic to get my kids. I was scared I would never see them again.
During this trip my anxiety would rise the closer we got to places which reminded me of my past or it was a city I actually lived in. Each time I was reminded, by God, that I was going to be okay. When we reached certain cities, a sign, a literal sign, was on the side of the road and read, "Prayer changes things". I felt a calm come over me. This sign presented itself 3 times for me on this trip.
It was at the end of the trip when I knew I had finally reached a point in my life where I can genuinely say, I feel healed from this trauma.
I have told my clients about this trip and the magnitude it had on my healing journey. I have helped them write about what they can do to continue to help themselves through a similar journey. I reminded them about the power they do have. I reminded them our voices are powerful.
Prayer changes things...............
My husband used to tell me that I needed to pray, I would always tell him, I do, I pray he would leave me alone and I pray he would move on with his life. He said, "no, you need to pray for him". This is when my healing journey took a turn for the better. Never in my life did I think once to pray for him. I was always praying God would remove him from my life forever. I took my husbands advice and started to pray for him and his parents. I prayed that he would find peace in his life and peace in the decisions of the courts. I prayed he would find peace in his heart and his mind and would live a healthier life with the woman he choose to be with. I prayed he would find God and would change his ways. This is when I realized the power of prayer and yes, prayer changes things. I am no longer afraid. I feel free.
